Don’t forget to check the expiration date on your….

April 24, 2008

Carseat. Yep, I said carseat. As it turns out, carseats have a standard life of about 6 years and supposedly (I haven’t looked yet, since my carseat is in the car) it is listed on the carseat somewhere on the back. It seems that after about 6 years, the plastic starts to deteriorate. I guess this makes sense, since things left outside or in the sun or heat tend to deteriorate, especially plastic.

Since this is ‘Green Week’ everywhere I turn, it has made me aware that the carseat manufacturers don’t even have some sort of recycling program set up for their carseats. NOPE, not even one manufacturer. I haven’t found one…yet, anyway. The only thing I’ve found in the entire US is a carseat recycling program in Portland, Oregon. Go greenies, go. Those Portland people are so good at being green. They are evennumber 2 on the top 25 places to live a more eco-friendly life, according to Sperling’s Best Places ( And I was doing some research on composting ealier today and they even have a discount program for the Earth Machine ( You can get it through a program there for $35, instead of $85! What a deal.

Anyway, enough about green-ness for now. Biscuit is clapping so well now that it even makes a cute little sound! And, she also said Bye-bye to me last night–and even waved. I was so proud! What a genius!

I love this pic of her. It makes her look so small. I think she was watching Sesame Street. Every time she hears any music, whether I’m singing, it’s on TV, or even a TV commercial, she starts to clap.  Oh, and she also has an attachment object! That yellow dolly in the pic is the lucky winner. Every time I lay her down to nap or sleep, she grabs that little dolly to hug with her left hand/arm and then sticks her right thumb in her mouth. I need to get a video of it. It’s so cute!

We’re Back :) and :(

April 22, 2008

So, we have returned to the Red Dirt City from being in the Metroplex for the last week and few days. We have a Hate/Love relationship with leaving our family’s houses after the week or weekend:

Hate leaving the family…

Hate leaving the conveniences of the bigger city…

Hate leaving the convenience of family wanting to babysit…

Hate getting Little Biscuit used to NOT being held constantly…

Love coming home to sleep in our own beds…

Love getting Biscuit back to sleeping through the night and regular naps.

So, when we were out of town, Biscuit began her 8th month of life. She is getting so big. I can’t believe how much she has changed in 8 months! Crawling is in the near future, I think. I’ve read that some babies don’t crawl, but I think she might. She tries and tries, but just pushes herself backward and sometimes to the side. She is, however, getting really good at standing. Yesterday, she was holding onto one of my fingers and standing all by herself. She was also trying to grab the sunglasses off of my head. Wow, what a multi-tasker!

Biscuit did have a first when we were gone. She head-butted her Daddy for the first time, resulting in the red bump/spot on her head. Her very first one (of many, I’m sure)!  Take a look:

In case you can’t see it…

Yea, it’s windy in West Texas…

April 10, 2008

Yes, it is windy in West Texas, but if there are 45 mph gusts, are you going to allow your employees to be working out on the roof? Isn’t this a huge liability for a company?

Well, I guess it’s not for the company NinjaSuperstar works for. Today, he was checking on the roofing crews for one of the jobs he sold and he had to get up on the roof. Well, they were all on the roof! Is that crazy, or is it just me? I was so mad when I found this out today. I don’t like the fact that that company doesn’t offer any kind of health insurance, life insurance, or any kind of retirement plan and after one year of being with they company, the employees get only one week of paid time off! One Week! Can you believe it? I am just more and more amazed each day at how under valued the employees of a million dollar company can be. Just one more reason for me to dislike the company NinjaSuperstar works for. I seem to find a new reason every day. Wow. I can’t wait until we don’t have to deal with their crap anymore. We only have about 5 more months left on our lease here in Red Dirt City. Hopefully we can last that long.

One good thing about Red Dirt City, however, is the really nice mommies I’ve met here. I have a super nice Italian neighbor that I really like hanging out with. And I’m (well, really, Biscuit is) in a really great playgroup here in town, too. The moms are super-nice and it is so nice to socialize with adults! I will really miss them when we leave.

So, one of Biscuit’s aunts, Tia Ia got her some really cute Ruby ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ Red, Glittery Shoes. Sister will be 8 months old next week and isn’t really used to shoes on her feet. She’s only had experience with socks, until now, and she seems to think they are toys, rather than actual foot warmers. Anyway, she thought these shoes were toys, as well. It was pretty cute when she was trying to remove them. I don’t know how I’m actually going to get this child to wear real shoes. I guess we have plenty of time, though.

Yay Blogging!

April 9, 2008

Ok, so I’m going to try out this blogging thing and see:

1) if I can keep up with it

2) if it will be at all interesting, because Lord knows that I’m not really that funny (well, okay FGM (Fairy GodMother), I’m not funny on purpose, anyway)

3) It helps family or random strangers keep up with mine, NinjaSuperstar’s and Little Biscuit’s life.

4) I read so many other blogs and they are super cute, so I want to do it, too.

So, here we go!

Now all I have to figure out is how to put pics on this thing.

Too much tummy time!
